Here is a by no means exhaustive list of what is commonly seen in the clinic…
Lower back pain - Usually not great in prolonged sitting or standing, typically stiff in the mornings or achey at the end of the day, can be better when moving around
Pain down the posterior thigh/buttock - commonly referred to as ‘sciatica’, driving can be problematic, but can present with many irritants. Normally the source is the lower back
Shoulder pain - Normally worse reaching overhead or behind your back, and usually not great sleeping on. Pain often felt in the upper arm
Neck pain - Can sometimes radiate down the arm, generally stiff or painful turning the head. Regularly responds well to hands-on therapy
Knee pain - Commonly from running, walking or a moment of injury. In some cases can become stiff in sitting and painful on stairs
Achilles pain - Again in runners/walkers. Classically worse in the morning and eases with use
Sole of foot pain - What we call ‘stop/start pain’, similar to Achilles pain - worse on waking in the morning
Elbow pain - 90% of this will be ‘tennis elbow’. gripping and lifting items cause pain. Responds well to time and rehabilitation
Ankle sprains - From sport usually, will have gradual improvement, but recovers more quickly with treatment.
Fractures - whether with surgery to fixate, or just immobilised in a cast - this will need supervision and a plan to get moving again
Tendon/Ligament repairs or reconstruction - again, will need a protocol lead rehabilitation plan
Whiplash injuries - gradually improve with the correct guidance and treatment in place
